The Central Office of the Georgia Public Defender Council is currently seeking to hire a Human Resources Manager. The HR Manager leads all human resources activities for the agency including: drafting, interpreting and implementing policy and procedures; ensuring compliance with state and federal employment regulations; recruitment and on-boarding; workman’s compensation; ePerformance management; classification and compensation; entering personnel transactions; employee relations activities and decisions, exiting employees from service; providing advice and information to managers and employees regarding federal, state and agency laws, policies and procedures for topics such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, ADA, ACA, performance management, discipline, State Board Personnel Rules and benefits available to state employees. The HR Manager supervises Benefits and Payroll functions and staff for the agency.

Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field And five years of supervisory experience in human resources. Candidate should be team oriented, flexible, proactive, detail oriented, self motivated and customer focused. Must have a thorough knowledge of EEO, federal and state laws as well as State Personnel Board Rules. Must have a thorough demonstrated knowledge of TeamWorks HCM System. The Office of the Public Defender (OPD) in the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit is now taking applications for a Paralegal II (working title – Intake Coordinator). This position will be responsible for meeting with newly arrested people in various local jails, including but not limited to Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade, and Walker Counties, and completing applications with those people requesting legal representation by an OPD attorney.
