Anticholenergic
These medications can treat but are not limited to the treatment of side effects of antipsychotic medications.
- Artane (Trihexyphenydyl) – used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and tremors caused by other medical problems or drugs.
- Akineton (Biperiden) – can be used to control severe reactions to certain medicines such as reserpine (e.g., Serpasil) ( medicine to control high blood pressure) or phenothiazines, chlorprothixene (e.g., Taractan), thiothixene (e.g., Navane), loxapine (e.g., Loxitane), and haloperidol (e.g., Haldol) ( medicines for nervous, mental, and emotional conditions).
- Cogentin (Benzotropine)- Benztropine mesylate is used to treat the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease and tremors caused by other medical problems or drugs.
- Kemadrin (Procyclidine)- can beused to control severe reactions to certain medicines such as reserpine (e.g., Serpasil) ( medicine to control high blood pressure) or phenothiazines, chlorprothixene (e.g., Taractan), thiothixene (e.g., Navane), loxapine (e.g., Loxitane), and haloperidol (e.g., Haldol) ( medicines for nervous, mental, and emotional conditions).
- Parlodel (Bromocriptine)- Bromocriptine blocks release of a hormone called prolactin from the pituitary gland. Prolactin affects milk production. Bromocriptine is used to stop milk production in some women or men who have abnormal milk leakage in some cases due to the adverse effects of medication.
