GPDSC Attorneys Receive the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers "Case of the Year Award"

Congratulations to Sarah Gerwig-Moore, Leigh Schrope, Sabrina Rinehart and Jim Bonner for being honored by the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) with the “Case of the Year Award.”  Sarah and Leigh were appellate counsel in the Ramos v. Terry  279 Ga. 889  in which the Georgia Supreme Court ruled that a defendant must be provided with an interpreter with established qualifications.  Jim and Sabrina were among the appellate attorneys in Sims v. State 279 Ga. 389 in which the Supreme Court changed the standard of review of a finding of competency to stand trial from whether “any evidence” supported the finding to whether it had been proven by a “preponderance of the evidence.”  These are both two very significant and important decisions.  We are all so very proud of the work of Sarah, Leigh, Sabrina, and Jim.
